It is not very often that a big guy gets to show off his skills other than by knocking someone’s head off. However, over the weekend, Hawaii offensive lineman Dejon Allen showed off his hands when he ended practice by fielding a punt.
The deal was if two of three punts were fielded correctly, then the team wouldn’t have to go through conditioning and could leave practice.
To make things tougher, two of the three players fielding punts were offensive linemen and it all came down to Allen.
He was able to grab the punt and that caused his team to go absolutely insane. He then took off down the sideline like he was returning a punt in an actual game.

Allen talked about fielding the punt, which was supposed to simulate in-game stress situations.
“It’s pretty stressful, because everyone is hoping I catch it and I’m thinking about the ball, and it’s in the air and I’m thinking about if I’m going to catch it or not,” Allen told KHON2. “It’s pretty stressful, but I got the job done. Yeah, I’m definitely going to do that if he wants me to.”
This was pretty impressive for a big guy and he will likely be begging head coach Nick Rolovich for a chance to do it in a game this year. The Rainbow Warriors open the season on Aug. 26 against the Cal Golden Bears in Australia.
