LSU Football Fan Day, Media Day canceled due to flooding

Fans and media members who were looking to get an up close look at the LSU Tigers prior to the start of the 2016 college football season will have to wait.

Due to continued rain and flooding across Louisiana, the university has decided to cancel the Football Fan Day and Media Day events that were planned to be held on Sunday.

“Safety is our primary concern right now,” LSU Vice-Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said in a press release.

“Unfortunately, with all of the high water, flooding and continued rain, there is no way that we can put people in harm’s way so we have no choice but to cancel this event.”

Fan Day will not be rescheduled. However, fans will still have the opportunity to receive some of the gear and memorabilia that was set to be handed out during Sunday’s events.

LSU is working on a plan to distribute the football schedule placards, posters as well as the complimentary Geaux Clear bags, according to the release.

The Tigers kickoff their 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 against the Wisconsin Badgers on the road at Lambeau Field.
