Video: Police interrupt Eastern Michigan practice, give Blake Banham full-ride

It seems like it is the summer of giving full rides to walk-ons in the MAC this year. After Ball State surprised one of their players with a scholarship by using a game show, the Eastern Michigan Eagles decided to do the same, but by going a completely different route.

Following the team’s practice on Saturday, head coach Chris Creighton was speaking to the team when two police officers interrupted him. They asked to speak with redshirt sophomore running back Blake Banham and one handed him a manila envelope.

Inside the envelope was a full-ride scholarship for the running back and it was a pretty awesome sight to see.

Banham joined the Eagles in 2014 and took a redshirt. In 2015, he ran the ball only four times for 27 yards.

But now, he hopes to make a big impact for the Eagles going into the 2016 season. The Eagles open the season on Sept. 2 against Mississippi Valley State.
