The Baylor Bears are hopefully getting top receiver KD Cannon back some time this week after he was dealing with some injuries. However, for one star offensive player they lose another as starting running back Johnny Jefferson will likely miss some time going into the season after he was involved in a nasty car accident.
Interim head coach Jim Grobe told ESPN’s Max Olson that Jefferson will be out “a while” after the weekend accident left him with sore ribs. It also doesn’t help that he has been nursing a foot injury this summer.

Jefferson posted photos of the accident on his Instagram and it looked pretty nasty.
Jefferson is the top returning running back for the Bears as he recorded 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns on 136 carries in 2015. Baylor opens the season on Sept. 2 against the Northwestern State Demons.
