One of the top players in the Class of 2017 is one step closer to announcing his college decision. On Wednesday, Dyke (Va.) Blue Ridge School standout Aamir Simms announced his final six schools.
Simms’ top six — VCU, Clemson, Iowa State, Miami, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame. — were released on Twitter.
Currently, Pitt is at 100 percent to land Simms according to the 247 Sports Crystal Ball Projection. Whether that proves to be the case remains to be seen, but it certainly adds up with comments recently made by the top recruit.
“I have a top six schools I’ll be posting in the next few days. Pitt is definitely in the mix. I simply haven’t decided if they will get an official or unofficial visit,” Simms told PittsburghSportsNow.com.
“Academics are important to me. Coming from Blue Ridge, I know what it means to be a student before an athlete. The style of play at a school will be important to me as well. The area and environment of the school will factor in as well.”
It’s safe to say the Panthers have a very strong chance at landing the small forward.
Simms is ranked as the No. 7 player in the state of Virginia. If he were to land with Kevin Stallings’ program, it’d be a major addition as Pitt attempts to become major players in the ACC.
