Darius Rucker will play concert at South Carolina if Gamecocks win six games

The expectations for the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2016 are mediocre at best, but the team might have gotten a little extra incentive to do well this year. If the promise of a bowl game isn’t enough, the team can look forward to a concert from country music star Darius Rucker if they can manage to get six wins this year.

One South Carolina student suggested that if the Gamecocks actually get to bowl eligibility this year, then Rucker, a South Carolina alum and huge fan of the team, should return to have a concert at Brice-Williams Stadium.

The former lead man of Hootie and the Blowfish responded by telling him to start a petition, while university president Harris Pastides said it wouldn’t be necessary as the deal was confirmed.

Last year, Rucker held a concert at the stadium, where he sang the Notre Dame fight song to ESPN’s Mike Golic after losing a bet with him on women’s basketball.

It will certainly be interesting to see how bad the Gamecocks want to win a concert for the rest of the student body. With tough match-ups like Clemson and the entire SEC schedule, however, it might be pretty tough for them to get it done.
