Invicta FC 19 set for Sept. 23, Maia vs. Modafferi as main event

Invicta Fighting Championships is set to return in September.

The all-female mixed martial arts promotion announced that Invicta FC 19 is set to take place at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City. The event will be headlined by an interim flyweight title fight between interim champ Jennifer Maia and fan favorite Roxanne Modafferi.

Maia makes her first interim title defense since a unanimous decision win over Vanessa Porto at Invicta FC 16. The Brazilian enters Invicta FC 19 on a four-fight winning streak.

Modafferi, meanwhile, is 4-1 in her last five and is riding a two-fight win streak of her own.

In the co-main event, fans will get to experience another title fight as atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki defends her belt against Jinh Yu Frey.

Frey earned the title shot by topping Herica Tiburcio. She enters the bout on a three-fight winning streak, while Hamasaki has hauled off four in a row. Hamasaki’s only professional loss is to UFC strawweight Claudia Gadelha.

Additional bouts for Invicta FC 19 are set to be announced in the coming days.
