Leonard Fournette says ankle injury won’t keep him out of season opener

The LSU Tigers got a big scare earlier this week when it was reported that star running back Leonard Fournette suffered an ankle sprain during practice. However, it doesn’t look like it will keep him out any extended period of time going into the season.

Fournette spoke with Ross Dellenger of The Advocate and informed him that he would be ready to play for the season opener against Wisconsin. He did also mention, however, that he is not sure when he will be able to return to practice.

This is certainly good news for the Tigers and their fans as Fournette is currently favored to win the 2016 Heisman Trophy. He is one of the best players in the country and will be a big part of their success going into the season.

In 2015, Fournette finished the season by rushing for a school-record 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns. It will be much better for the Tigers if he is on the field for them at Lambeau Field on Sept. 3.
