Central Michigan RB Romello Ross out for 2016

The Central Michigan Chippewas made their way to the Quick Lane Bowl against the Minnesota Golden Gophers last season and they are looking to begin competing in the MAC again this year. However, they will be without a pretty big part of their offense going into the 2016 season in running back Romello Ross.

It was reported late Saturday evening that Ross would be out the entire 2016 season after he tore his ACL in practice this week. This is a big blow as he was looking to be a big part of their offense in the 2016 season.

You hate to lose anybody,” head coach John Bonamego told the Mount Pleasant Morning Sun. “It’s definitely somebody we were counting on to play a significant role. But when someone goes down it opens up opportunities for others.?

During the 2015 season, Romello Ross ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, three of which came in the regular season finale against Eastern Michigan. He did this all while being a three-star member of the team’s 2015 recruiting class.

The Chippewas open the season on Sept. 1 against the Presbyterian Blue Hose.
