The Arkansas Razorbacks have lost a number of players to transfer this offseason and they have now lost another. Their quarterback depth took a hit when redshirt sophomore Rafe Peavy announced his intentions to leave and head to SMU to continue his career.
Peavey took to Twitter and announced that he would be leaving Bret Bielema’s club to join Chad Morris’s team. He thanked the Razorback fans and coaches for giving him a chance to join their team.
Earlier this year, Peavey had to have surgery on his back, causing him to fall behind Ty Storey and true freshman Cole Kelley in the quarterback depth chart race. This likely led to his decision to leave for the Mustangs, which gives them their second SEC transfer after LSU wide receiver Trey Quinn announced his transfer earlier this year.
Peavey will have to sit out the 2016 season and would have two years of eligibility starting in 2017.
