Bill Self and the Kansas basketball team knows a thing or two about winning. Unfortunately, the Jayhawks football program was unable to manage a single win in 2015 and now they are looking to change that.
With the hope of inspiring Kansas’ football team, Self showed up and delivered a powerful speech to the players.
TWC Sports Channel Kansas City documented Self’s speech, which focused on motivating the players to become builders and take pride at building a program from the ground up.
“Now, deep in your core, if you’re worth your salt at all, would it mean more to you to be a builder or a maintainer? Think about it. Being a builder means maybe going 0-12 your first year, because you don’t have as many bullets. But being a builder is developing a culture,” Self said.
“How you’re going to work, how responsible you’re going to be, how hard you’re going to study film, how good a leadership you’re going to have, how we’re gonna pick each other up, how good a teammate you’re going to be. That’s the culture. That’s how you have a program.”

Kansas kicks off its 2016 campaign on Sept. 3 against Rhode Island.
We’ll have to see if the Jayhawks are up for the challenge.
