The Auburn Tigers could be in trouble on the defensive side of the ball after safety Stephen Roberts was arrested on charges of attempting to elude and possession of a gun without a permit. This is a big deal for the Tigers as he is expected to play a good role on their team this year.
Roberts was arrested Wednesday night and released nearly an hour later with bond for both charges set at $1000 each. The penalties carry a penalty of no more than a year in jail and up to a $600 fine.
“Coach Malzahn is aware,” an Auburn spokesman told AL.com in a statement Friday morning. “He is gathering all the facts and will handle the situation appropriately.”
Stephen Roberts played in all 13 games and started the final four games of the season. He is expected to play a big role for the team after he recorded 26 tackles on the season.
