South Carolina football took a big step Sunday towards rebounding from their 3-9 campaign last season, securing the commitment of Jamyest Williams, ESPN’s 4th highest-rated cornerback and 37th highest-rated overall prospect.
Williams declared his commitment to the Gamecocks, over Alabama, Clemson and Georgia, among many others, at his school, Grayson High School.

Williams received 49 offers and clearly turned down some high-level programs in order to play under the direction of Will Muschamp, in his first year as head coach at South Carolina.
Williams, a native of Logansville, Georgia, is a welcome addition to a struggling program looking for an infusion of fresh blood in its secondary.
The Gamecocks kickoff their 2016 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 1 on the road against Vanderbilt.
