The top-ranked North Dakota State Bison gave fans a show at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome by kicking off the FCS football season with an overtime win over Charleston Southern.
King Frazier, who rushed for 79 yards on 11 carries, scored the game-winner for the Bison.
Frazier bolted around the right side of the line on the very first play of overtime to scamper 25-yards for the final score of the game. To seal the win, cornerback Jaylaan Wimbush broke up a fourth-down pass attempt from Charleston Southern.
The Eagles’ attack was led by running back Mike Holloway, who had a game-high 126 rushing yards and two scores, but ultimately fell just short.
Charleston Southern will look to rebound next weekend against Washigton State.
North Dakota State, meanwhile, will take the week off before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 10, against Eastern Washington.
