Earlier this year, star Houston Texans defensive end and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt underwent back surgery, which made everyone question his availability for the early part of the season. However, it seems he will be back in time for the team’s season opener next weekend.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Watt will be available for the team when they take the field against the Chicago Bears next Sunday. This is huge for the Texans as having your best player on the field is always a good thing.
Less than two months after undergoing back surgery, J.J. Watt is expected to play in next Sunday’s opener vs. Chicago, per league source.

Watt is entering his sixth year in the league and in three of the last four seasons, he has been named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He has recorded at least 10.5 sacks in each of the last four seasons, twice locking down 20.5 sacks.
He led the league with 17.5 sacks in 2015, the second time he has done so since 2012. It will be huge for the Texans to have a player like Watt back on the field this weekend.
