The Texas Longhorns are looking to make a big statement in the season-opener against Notre Dame and safety DeShon Elliott is doing his part to make sure the Fighting Irish offense stays out of the endzone.
Early in the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s game, Notre Dame wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr. was coming across the middle when he was walloped by the Longhorns defensive back.
Elliott made contact with Hunter’s head and Hunter crumbled to the ground where he remained for a few minutes before being helped off the field.
Many people believe the hit should have been targeting and Elliott should have been ejected.

And here’s another angle:
Hunter has since been taken to the locker room for further evaluation and it is unlikely he will return. Hunter exits the game with four catches for 37 yards and a score.
Notre Dame currently trails the Longhorns, 31-28, with 13 minutes remaining in the game.
