Miami LB Jamie Gordinier out for year with knee injury

The Miami Hurricanes’ defense has taken big blows in the early part of the 2016 season, including the losses of star defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad and linebacker Jermaine Grace being dismissed before it even began.

Now they have taken another hit as linebacker Jamie Gordinier will be out for the season.

It was reported that the redshirt freshman suffered a knee injury in the team’s 70-3 win over the Florida A&M Rattlers. He will miss the rest of the year, leaving the team with a pretty awkward situation at linebacker going forward.

In the game, the Hurricanes started three true freshmen at linebacker in Shaq Quarterman, Zach McCloud and Michael Pinckney. This comes after the Grace dismissal and Juwon Young transferring to Marshall after getting suspended indefinitely.

Gordinier only recorded a tackle in the win over their FCS opponent. He was a three-star member of the team’s 2015 class and he chose the Hurricanes over Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska and Stanford.
