Early on during the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels’ 45-34 loss to No. 4 Florida State, cornerback Ken Webster went down with a gruesome knee injury. Webster was carted off of the field and did not return to the game.
The immediate belief was that the injury was serious, and that was confirmed when Webster announced he will miss the remainder of the 2016 college football season.
Webster announced the news in a social media post on Tuesday.
The junior defensive back wrote:
I would like to thanks every single last person for getting out to me . I am out for the season. Things happen for a reason and the man above got a great for me . I have an entire year to get bigger faster and strong. At one point of time tonight I was ready to call quits. all the love everyone showed and prayer I am focused on the comeback and encouraging my brothers to finish this season well!
It is a very disappointing end to what was supposed to be a promising season for Webster, but it is good to see he appears ready to attack his recovery head on.
The Rebels return to action this weekend against Wofford.
