Torii Hunter Jr. concussion update: No timetable for return

Notre Dame wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr. took a nasty blow to the head in their double overtime loss to the Texas Longhorns on Sunday. He went out for the rest of the game and it was reported on Monday that he had entered the concussion protocol.

Right now, it doesn’t seem like there is a timetable for Hunter’s return going forward. Head coach Brian Kelly said that there is really no way to tell when players can return when dealing with a concussion.

Concussion symptoms come and go, there’s no real timeline,” Kelly said Tuesday.

“When you start to expect somebody to clear it’s just so individual and you just let it take its course, and we’ll prepare accordingly.”

In Sunday’s game, Torii Hunter Jr. grabbed four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown. Had he made the catch during that hit, he would have had 19 more yards and another touchdown.

The Fighting Irish face off against Nevada on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
