A wild opening weekend of college football is in the books, so it’s time to see just how much of a shake up there was in the rankings. On Tuesday, the USA Today Coaches Poll gave us an idea of the college landscape moving forward.
As everyone would expect, the Alabama Crimson Tide sit comfortably atop the poll following their thrashing of USC on Saturday night.
For teams like LSU, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, all of which suffered upset losses on opening weekend, the results led to a drastic fall in the rankings. LSU fell from No. 6 to No. 22 for falling to unranked Wisconsin, Notre Dame dropped eleven spots to No. 21, and Oklahoma dropped ten spots to No. 13.
Some of the biggest winners came from the Lonestar State, as previously unranked Texas jumped to No. 20 for their upset win over Notre Dame and Houston leaped into the top ten at No. 7.
