San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has started a movement in sports that will likely affect the opening weekend of the 2016 NFL season. It started with Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall during the league’s season opener Thursday night.
During the national anthem, NBC’s camera panned over to Marshall and he could be seen kneeling. He is likely just one of the players that will protest the anthem throughout the 2016 season.

Expect to see this happening many more teams going into this weekend. The Seattle Seahawks have already discussed doing a full team protest on Sunday and I am sure they aren’t the only ones who will do so.
If this becomes a growing trend throughout the year, expect a lot more players to take stands by sitting or kneeling and expect them to get a lot of flack for it as well.
