UFC 203 has undergone a last minute change. Late Wednesday night, it was announced that a planned preliminary card flyweight bout between Ray Borg and Ian McCall has been scrapped.
According to FloCombat.com’s Jim Edwards, Borg was forced to withdraw from the bout due to an illness.
Because of the short notice, no replacement was sought.
It’s an unfortunate turn of events for McCall, who was looking to get back into action for the first time since January 2015. McCall was previously scheduled to face Justin Scoggins at UFC 201, but Scoggins was removed from that bout late due to weight-cutting issues.
Borg vs. McCall was scheduled to open the FOX Sports 1 portion of the preliminary card. With the removal of the bout, there is no word on whether the FOX Sports 1 prelims will move forward with only three scheduled bouts or whether the UFC will promote a bout like the CB Dollaway vs. Francimar Barroso bout from the UFC Fight Pass portion of the card.
