Report: 30-plus Charleston Southern players suspended

The Charleston Southern Buccaneers are one of the best teams in the FCS and they head to Tallahassee to face off against the Florida State Seminoles this weekend. However, they likely will be doing so without a large chunk of their team.

Buccaneer wide receiver Ben Robinson took to his Facebook and said that he and more than 30 other players had been suspended because they used their allotted money for school books on other supplies, like pencils and paper. Offensive lineman Frank Cirone later seemed to confirm that by saying the entire starting offensive line had been suspended for the game Saturday for this apparent violation, while another receiver, Colton Korn, also announced the suspension.

There probably weren’t very many people picking the Buccaneers to pull off the upset over the Seminoles this week, but it will certainly be interesting to see how this affects the rest of the team’s season. They are currently ranked No. 7 in the country and are 1-1 after beating Kentucky State 57-7, which comes after a heartbreaking 24-17 overtime loss to North Dakota State.
