C.B. Dollaway pulled from UFC 203 due to elevator accident

C.B. Dollaway was expected to make his light heavyweight debut at UFC 203 tonight against Francimar Barroso. However, a strange elevator accident ahead of the weigh-ins on Friday has forced him to pull out of the fight tonight.

A number of fighters nearly missed the weigh-ins due to an elevator getting stuck and the cable snapping, sending it into a freefall. Fighter Urijah Faber caught the scary incident on camera.

The UFC later announced that Dollaway would have to pull out of the fight due to what is being called a back injury.

“UFC announced that CB Dollaway has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 203 due to an injury he suffered last night as a result of an elevator accident at a hotel in Cleveland,” the statement read. “UFC officials have been in communication with hotel management, and the hotel is currently evaluating and investigating the issues surrounding the incident.”

This is certainly a strange and sad situation for Dollaway. Hopefully he gets better and will be able to get back in the Octagon very soon.
