Video: JUCO player punches ref, taken off in handcuffs

As a player in any sport, you are never supposed to put your hands on a referee. If that happens, you can bet you will get ejected, suspended and possibly even kicked off your team.

For junior college offensive lineman Bernard Schirmer, he found out exactly why you don’t touch the referee. While his team, Mount San Antonio, was playing Saturday night, Schirmer seemed to get upset and he laid out the official with a stiff right hand to the head and got taken off the field and put in handcuffs.

The lineman ended up getting charged with battery after police actually reviewed film of the punch in the pressbox.

The official was down on the ground for a while after Schirmer punched him and he did not return to the game.
