The Texas A&M Aggies are 2-0 entering the third week of the season with a big match up against Auburn on the schedule for this weekend. Texas A&M has a chance to keep it’s hot start going which has to please head coach Kevin Sumlin.
Entering the season, many believed Sumlin was on the hot seat.
However, one of his players, star wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones, had a different opinion. Coming into the 2016 season, Seals-Jones said there was pressure on everyone in the program and that pressure remains to this day.
To the junior pass catcher, Sumlin isn’t alone, because everyone in the program is on the hot seat every day.
“We’re on the hot seat every day,” Seals-Jones said, via Brian Hamilton of Campus Rush.
“That’s how I see it. From coaches to players. You have a bad practice or a bad game, you’re on the hot seat. It’s not like any different. I don’t know, it’s funny how people say, ‘He’s on the hot seat.’ S—, we’re all on the hot seat every day.”
There was reason for concern entering the season after the departures of highly-touted quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray, but so far, so good for Sumlin and company.
If they can keep the wins coming, talk of Sumlin on the hot seat will be nothing more than a distant whisper.
