Harambe lives on! Temporary custom jersey ban lifted

The spirit of Harambe lives on! On Wednesday, the NFL embodied its “No Fun League” moniker when it was reported that fans could no longer order customized jerseys featuring the name of America’s fallen hero.

However, whether it be because of the Harambe army or because common sense prevailed, you can once again honor the legendary gorilla with a customized shirt.

As it turns out, it really wasn’t the NFL’s fault at all.

Instead, it was those good old fashioned boys over at MLB that contacted online retailer Fanatics; further providing understanding of why baseball is losing popularity among the younger crowd. The dull officials from one team were “concerned” over the matter — give me a break! — and Fanatics added Harambe to the list of banned terms. That ended up impacting other leagues who use the retailer.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell detailed how it all went down.

Luckily, Fanatics realized how silly and lame the MLB complaint was and they have since lifted the ban. So as of now, you can head back online to NFL Shop and grab your custom Harambe jersey just in time for the meat and potatoes of the NFL schedule.

Harambe will live on forever! We’ll never forget you, you beautiful primate.
