Baker Mayfield and the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners play host to the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman for one of the marquee match ups of Week 3 of the college football season.
Entering the game, it has immediately become clear that the Sooners are not lacking confidence.
While speaking on SoonerSports, Oklahoma backup quarterback Austin Kendall threw some trash talk the Buckeyes’ way by predicting Mayfield will “light them up.”
That comment alone isn’t surprising, but Kendall provided some extra reasoning which will be bulletin board material for Ohio State. According to the backup signal-caller, Ohio State has a “really basic defense.” Ouch. Shots fired.
“I think they have a really basic defense,” said Kendall, via Eleven Warriors. “Baker (Mayfield) – he’ll light them up. I’m really looking forward to it, and if my number’s called, I think I can do the same.”

You have to appreciate Kendall getting into the mix, but it’s also important to remember the Buckeyes have yet to allow a touchdown this season. If that’s basic, I’m sure co-defensive coordinators Greg Schiano and Luke Fickell would be more than happy to see the defensive unit continue to be as vanilla as possible.
Kickoff between the Buckeyes and Sooners is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
