Sam Foltz, at the time the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ punter, died in late July along with former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, when they were on the drive back from a kicking camp through a thunderstorm in Wisconsin and crashed.
The Cornhuskers have done much in the way of honoring their lost punter this season, from lining up for its first punt of the season with only 10 players (no punter in remembrance of Foltz) to Foltz’s nephews leading the team onto the field for their season-opener against Fresno State.
Saturday, Oregon took it a step further, showing an ultimate level of class in placing a bouquet of flowers on the 27-yard-line, 27 being Foltz’s number.

The Cornhuskers are 2-0 on the season, thumping both lower-level opponents in Fresno State and Wyoming by score-lines of 43-10 and 52-17, respectively.
No. 22-ranked Oregon will be the first real test of Nebraska’s season.
You can watch it at 3.30 p.m. on ABC.
