Shock Linwood becomes Baylor’s all-time leading rusher

The No. 21 Baylor Bears rolled past Rice on Friday night, but the win included a significant moment in Baylor football history. During the game, running back Shock Linwood solidified his spot in the Baylor record books by becoming the school’s all-time leading rusher.

Linwood broke the all-time Baylor rushing record on a five-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

The record was previously held by Walter Abercrombie, who played for Baylor in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Linwood finished the game with 57 yards on 13 carries.

On the season, Linwood has rushed for 213 yards for the 3-0 Bears.

Throughout his career, the 5-foot-9 running back has totaled 3,675 yards and 34 touchdowns on the ground. It’s clear Linwood has had a lasting impact on the football program during his time in Waco.

Baylor returns to action next weekend when the Oklahoma State Cowboys roll into town.
