Luke Del RIo has MCL sprain, could miss two weeks

We reported earlier on Sunday that Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio went down with a knee injury in Saturday’s win over North Texas and he would likely miss next weekend’s game at Tennessee. Now, it looks like he could be out past next weekend’s game as well.

Luckily for the Gators, Del Rio’s injury is not season-ending as he has only suffered a MCL sprain. However, it was reported that he will likely miss at least the next two weeks for the team.

This means that Purdue transfer Austin Appleby will get the start next Saturday against the Tennessee Volunteers. Appleby could also start the game on the road against Vanderbilt on Oct. 1.

Luke Del Rio has 762 yards and six touchdowns against just two interceptions on the season. The Gators take the field against the Vols on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST on CBS with College GameDay in town.
