The Notre Dame basketball program received a big time commitment this week with four-star small forward D.J. Harvey, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Maryland, joining the program.
Harvey, the No. 8 player at his position in the Class of 2017, chose Notre Dame over Alabama, UConn and Texas.
The news was first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
“I’m going to Notre Dame and I chose Notre Dame because of the relationship that I have with the coaching staff and how interested and how devoted coach [Mike] Brey was in me through the whole process,” he told Scout.
Daniels provided a quick analysis of Harvey’s game.
DJ Harvey is a significant pledge for Mike Brey. Ranked No. 43. Makes shots on the move & from mid-range. Rebounds the ball well from wing.

It also appears as though head coach Mike Brey was thrilled to receive the news.
