ESPN calls Baylor ‘only undefeated team in the Big 12 conference’

The Baylor Bears are off to a strong start this year. The team is exceeding expectations after the tumultuous offseason they have had, but they still look like a real contender in the Big 12.

However, while the Bears are one of only three Big 12 teams in the AP top 25 and are the highest-ranked, they aren’t the only perfect team. ESPN made the mistake of calling them that when previewing Baylor’s game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys this weekend.

You might not have realized this, ESPN, but the West Virginia Mountaineers are undefeated as well. They are 2-0.

I understand that West Virginia didn’t play last week, are geographically out of place in the Big 12 and have achieved more than seven wins just once since joining the conference in 2012, but they still beat a pretty decent Missouri team to open the season and beat a FCS top ten team in Youngstown State, led by former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini, on Sept. 10.

The Mountaineers and Cougars face off at 3:30 p.m. EST at FedEX Field in Landover, Maryland on Saturday. The game is, surprisingly, airing on ESPN2.
