Schiano is in his first year with Ohio State and had not coached since being relieved of his duties by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the end of 2013. Urban Meyer, a personal friend of Schiano and head coach of the Buckeyes, brought him into the fold.
The incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts go out to the cyclist who was struck and wish him a speedy recovery.
