The Wisconsin Badgers beat the Michigan St. Spartans 30-6 on Saturday in East Lansing, Michigan.
Michigan State was a confident team, sitting at 2-0 and fresh off a victory over Notre Dame. They were, however, outplayed in every aspect of the game by the freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook led Wisconsin Badgers.
Corey Clement converted 23 rushing attempts into 54 yards and two touchdowns for Wisconsin. Clement had been listed as questionable all week and was playing with a sore ankle.
Let there be no doubt, the story of the game was the Wisconsin defense. They suffocated their opponent from beginning to end. Michigan State quarterback Tyler O’Connor managed to throw for 224 yards, he did so, however, while throwing three interceptions and completing less than 50 percent of his passes.
The Badgers also limited the Spartans to 75 total yards on the ground.
With this win Wisconsin will move in to the top ten in the coming AP polls. They were last ranked in the top 10 in 2011 under coach Bret Bielema.
Wisconsin will look to remain unbeaten as the play Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines next week. Michigan St. will try to right the boat as the play the Hoosiers of Indiana.
