The death of Miami Marlins star pitcher José Fernandez rocked the sports world Sunday morning, with friend and teammate of Fernandez’s, Dee Gordon, being no exception.
Shortly after hearing about the death of his teammate, Gordon took the time to visit a memorial for Fernandez set up by the Marlins on Marlins Park’s pitching mound.

Gordon, who was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers until late-December of 2014, was teammates with Fernandez for two years before the pitcher lost his life in a boating accident in the early hours of Sunday.
The Marlins announced Sunday that their game against the Atlanta Braves, initially scheduled for 1:00 that afternoon, was cancelled.
The Marlins and their stadium crew put up signs in remembrance of Fernandez and also to inform fans the game had been cancelled had they not heard about it before-hand.
