Florida expected to hire Scott Stricklin as next AD

Earlier this year, it was reported that Jeremy Foley would step down from his position as athletic director at Florida and that would go into effect on Oct. 1. That is this weekend and the Gators are expected to announce their new leader within the next few days.

Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports is reporting that Florida is expected to stay within the SEC to hire Scott Stricklin away from Mississippi State to take over for Foley. This official announcement is expected at a press conference on Tuesday.

Foley has held his post at Florida since 1992 and Stricklin seems more than capable of taking over for him. The Mississippi State athletic director has held that post since 2010 and has been responsible for the expansion of the football team’s Davis Wade Stadium along with many other achievements.

He has also began the renovation of many different facilities on campus, including the construction of the $2.2 million Mississippi State Golf Center.

He will certainly have his hands full in Gainesville, but he seems qualified to do the job.
