Nebraska football: Kirk Herbstreit predicts Cornhuskers win total

The Nebraska Cornhuskers finished the 2015 season with just five wins in the regular season and pulled off a big win in the Foster Farms Bowl against UCLA. The team is currently 4-0 and are ranked in the AP top 25 rankings, leading everyone to believe that they will finish the 2016 season much better this year.

One of those people that seem to believe in the Huskers is ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit. He praised head coach Mike Riley, saying the team has bought in to his philosophies and predicted a 9-3 regular season record for the team.

Looking at the Cornhuskers’ remaining schedule, one would believe that the three losses would come to Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa. It would be interesting to see what happens with the last eight games for the Huskers, especially in terms of the Big Ten West.

The Cornhuskers last won their division in 2012, then called the “Legends Division,” under coach Bo Pelini. They have a good chance of winning nine games in the regular season for the fourth time in the last seven years.

Nebraska faces off against Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. EST as they look to get to 2-0 in the Big Ten after a 24-13 win over Northwestern this past Saturday.
