Tire Pros Puerto Rico Tip-Off moved from Puerto Rico over Zika Virus concerns

Officials have decided to move the Tire Pros Puerto Rico Tip-Off challenge from Puerto Rico amid concerns of the Zika virus.

The tournament will still be held from November 17th through the weekend, with the championship game landing on November 20th. All game times have remained untouched as well, with the only change being that it will now be at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports.

Originally scheduled to be held at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Zika virus continues to cause events to be moved from the U.S. territory. Earlier this year, MLB decided to move a scheduled Miami Marlins-Pittsburgh Pirates series from Puerto Rico over similar concerns.

Zika virus, a disease that is typically transmitted by mosquito bite, causes birth defects in the unborn fetus of pregnant women. It continues to be prevalent in South America, with recent reports in Miami, Florida in the United States.

The tournament field includes the Arizona State Wildcats, Clemson Tigers, Davidson Wildcats, Missouri Tigers, Northern Iowa Panthers, Oklahoma Sooners, Tulane Greenwave, and Xavier Muskateers.

With this many felines in the field, it’ll be fun to see which team can claw their way to the top. Or drown everyone else. (Tulane).
