Who will replace Les Miles at LSU?

Odds are in to replace Les Miles in Baton Rouge, and it’s quite the melange of retreads, coups and long shots. It’s like a paella of gridiron Sergeant Generals.

Have a look:

Considered likeliest to be be calling the shots for the Tigers next season are Tom Herman and Jimbo Fisher. Herman has turned the Houston Cougars into a program that is a sore in the side of pollmakers, as it quickly becomes difficult to dismiss their success simply because they play in the AAC.

Fisher, who waited in the wings under Bobby Bowden has led Florida State to a level success that rivals any in its programs history. Both coaches have publicly denied any contact with LSU.

Other notable coaches on the list include Lane Kiffin, who was let go from USC and is currently the Offensive Coordinator at Alabama. Ed Orgeron can improve his odds with a successful season, as he was named head coach for the rest of the season in the wake of Miles firing. A name that is considered a surprise, even at its enormous odds, is that of Art Briles, former coach of the Baylor Bears who was let go due to a sexual assault scandal that shook the program.

It’ll be interesting to see the carousel turn through the season, as LSU looks for the next coach that can lead them to the top of college football’s toughest conference.
