Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen takes shot at Florida over Scott Stricklin hiring

The Florida Gators have hired former Mississippi State athletic director Scott Striklin, to the ire of Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen.

“Heck, we’ve won more games than Florida has in the last six years so they probably want him and I am not surprised people came after him,” Mullen said about his SEC foe.

Mullen was complimentary of Stricklin, however, saying “Scott has done a great job,” and that he’s had a great professional relationship with Stricklin.

Stricklin was hired by the Bulldogs in 2006 and had success in his decade there. He hired Mullen in 2009 following the firing of Sylvester Croom after a 4-8 season. The partnership has been fruitful, as they have posted a winning record every year since 2010 and was ranked 1st in the country for a time in 2012.

Stricklin will now get the opportunity to do in Florida what he did in Mississippi. He’ll have a more recognizable brand to work with, though, with UF football, basketball and baseball competitive and relevant every year.
