The LSU Tigers are beginning a new era this weekend as Ed Orgeron takes over as interim head coach after the team fired 11-year head coach Les Miles last weekend. Orgeron seemed to suggest that the players are now one unit and are actually having fun at practice.
Orgeron held a teleconference on Wednesday and fielded several questions about his first few days as the head coach in Baton Rouge. One of his answers seemed to suggest that the players didn’t enjoy playing under Miles and their demeanor has completely changed over the last few days.
“Guys have got to want to come to practice and have some fun,” he said. “If you’ve been to our practice the last couple days, guys are having fun. They’re running around with a lot of energy. I know it’s new now, but we’re preparing to have a great game on Saturday.”
Now, this could just be suggesting that the players are having despite being without their longtime head coach, but it certainly seems like the Tigers are now only having fun because Miles is gone.
The Tigers host the Missouri Tigers on Saturday in a key SEC match-up. It will be interesting to see how they play when they take the field for this big game.
LSU and Missouri face off at 7:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday with the game airing on SEC Network.
