LSU RB Derrius Guice expected to start over Fournette again

For the second straight week, sophomore running back Derrius Guice is expected to start for the LSU Tigers over star rusher Leonard Fournette, who has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury.

The news was reported by SEC Country.

Last weekend against Missouri, Guice took advantage of the opportunity he was provided by rushing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. Guice, who now leads LSU in rushing, earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his Week 5 performance.

Now, Guice will reportedly get another chance to carry the load when LSU makes the trip to Gainesville to face the No. 18 Florida Gators.

Guice is viewed by many as one of the most talented running backs in the nation. So now that he has emerged from the Fournette shadow and has a chance to show off his skills in a prominent SEC matchup, we should get a better idea of exactly what he’s made of.

Kickoff between LSU and Florida is set for noon ET on ESPN.
