A scary situation took place at the Colorado football facility on Wednesday morning.
Reports first surfaced that a man carrying a machete was inside of Champions Center on the north side of Folsom Field. After police responded to the scene, shots were fired and the suspect was hit in a stairwell inside of the building.
The suspect is in police custody.
A woman inside of the building detailed the frightening situation:
The county’s Critical Incident Team has been dispatched to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
Ed O’Malley pulled up to the Stadium Drive closure after he received a text from his wife saying she was in the building and had locked herself in a room.
“She said there was someone running around with a machete,” he said. “Then I didn’t hear from her for about 10 minutes. I got pretty nervous.”
O’Malley said his wife, who was there for a physical therapy appointment, thankfully was fine
“Luckily it sounds like she’s safe,” he said.
Further details, including any possible motivation, remain scarce at this time.
