Urban Meyer praises Indiana defense

This weekend the Ohio State Buckeyes will systematically rip the guts right out of the Indiana Hoosiers. I know it. You know it. Coach Urban Meyer knows it; only he’s not letting on much of anything.

In a recent interview with 97.1 The Fan, coach Meyer had only good things to say about the Hoosier team, particularly its defense.

According to Meyer, the Indiana defense is the best they’ve faced so far this season, including Oklahoma. His argument isn’t without statistical data to back it up, as the Hoosiers have allowed only one team to score more than 30 points on them this year.

However, they’ve faced teams that were relatively anemic offensively, including in their upset to Michigan State who ranks 105th in total offense.

Ohio State is expected put on an air-and-land show that people will be laying out beach blankets to watch. Leading the way in several offensive categories this season, both in the Big-10 and nationally, Meyer is doing little more than providing some lip service to the Hoosiers here.

Maybe Indiana’s defense is good, but it probably won’t look like it on Saturday.
