Alabama basketball continues recruiting success under Avery Johnson

Alabama basketball secured another commitment this week with Galin Smith agreeing to join the Crimson Tide under the guidance of head coach Avery Johnson.

Johnson is looking to reinvent the culture at Alabama which is dominated by the Nick Saban led football team.

Smith, a 6-foot-9 center out of Clinton, Mississippi, joins four-star recruits Alex Reese and Herb Jones in the class of 2017.

Johnson is forming a formidable front court for the class of 2017 and under his guidance Alabama figures to become a force before too long. Clearly his NBA pedigree and “I’ve been there” aura is translating to these young men who are looking to improve on the court. Known as the “Little General” in his playing time and being the fastest coach to 150 wins, Johnson brings strong leadership to this Crimson Tide program.

The Alabama 2017 recruiting class is currently ranked 21st in the country according to 247 sports. The figures to climb as Avery Johnson makes young men swoon on the recruiting trail.
