Dede Westbrook breaks Oklahoma football receiving record

Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook is having a record-setting performance for the Sooners against the Texas Longhorns in this year’s Red River Showdown.

.@OU_Football's Dede Westbrook has 232 receiving yards, breaking Oklahoma's school record of 217 set by Ryan Broyles against Kansas in 2011.

This doesn’t bode well for a Texas defense which demoted their defensive coordinator Vance Bedford. Charlie Strong was expected to take a larger role in calling the defense this week. Strong is fighting for his job, and unemployment just landed a haymaker.

This is the second week in a row that Westbrook has at least 150 yards receiving when he went for 158 in the victory of TCU last week. He had two touchdowns last week and has another three this week. Quarterback Baker Mayfield better be ready to take this young man out to dinner because he is making him look really good.

Westbrook broke the previous record of 217 yards set by receiver Ryan Broyles. And there is still time to play.

Time for some double-coverage, Texas.
