Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield raised some eyebrows ahead of today’s Red River Showdown.
When the Sooners arrived to the Cotton Bowl for their meeting with the rival Texas Longhorns, Mayfield caught the attention of reporters when he stepped off of the team bus wearing a walking boot on his right foot, which he injured during last week’s win over TCU.
Mayfield later took the field and went through warmups with his ankle taped, so it appears as though the injury will not keep the star quarterback from starting the game. If the ankle does prove to be an issue, however, it could be a long afternoon for the Sooners.
Both teams currently sit at 2-2 and are looking for their third win of the season.
Kickoff between Texas and Oklahoma is set for noon ET on FOX Sports 1.
