The Ole Miss Rebels are currently on a bye week and head coach Hugh Freeze likely would have preferred star quarterback Chad Kelly spent his out of the headlines. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case after a video from a high school football game between St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School surfaced.
A brawl broke out between the two teams with Kelly in attendance.
Kelly’s cousin plays for St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and he charged the field from the stands after a fight broke out. According to reports, Kelly’s brother, Casey, was the recipient of a late hit which sparked the brawl.
The Ole Miss star claims he got involved to pull his brother from the pile and hold him back.

“From the version I’ve heard, he didn’t do anything to anybody. They were pulling him back because he gets emotional,” Freeze told The Associated Press. “I probably would too if that were my family.”

This isn’t the first time that Kelly has been involved in an off-field incident, but as his star power continues to grow, he needs to avoid these situations because NFL scouts are going to be paying very close attention.
Kelly and the Rebels return to action next Saturday against Arkansas in Fayetteville.
