Wake Forest pays tribute Arnold Palmer with helmet decal, field logo

|

When Arnold Palmer went to Wake Forest, it wasn’t the major university that it is today. This weekend, Palmers alma mater will honor his memory by placing his iconic multi-colored umbrella logo on several surfaces.

All Wake Forest teams will also have the logo on their jersey’s and the football team will have a decal placed on its helmet.

Palmer, the seven-time major winner and namesake of a delicious type of tea passed away at the age of 87 last month. The Demon Deacons will play their first home game against Syracuse since Palmer’s passing and will hold a brief ceremony before the game in his honor.

Palmer attended Wake Forest on a golf scholarship and has a statue bearing his likeness on campus. It is the only statue on the campus. There is also an Arnold Palmer Golf Complex on campus, an Arnold Palmer dormitory and the male student-athlete award is the Arnold Palmer Award.
